The film Operation Sindoor has stirred up major headlines since its official announcement. What began as an upcoming military-themed movie quickly turned into a media storm, sparking speculation, political sensitivity, and celebrity rumors.
Soon after the announcement, social media was abuzz with gossip that Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Vicky Kaushal were at odds over the film. The online chatter suggested both actors wanted to lead the project, causing apparent friction between them.
Twinkle Khanna Confronts Akshay Kumar Over Viral Tweets
Twinkle Khanna, author and Akshay Kumar’s wife, addressed the rumors in her latest column for The Times of India. She recalled seeing a string of tweets about her husband allegedly clashing with Vicky Kaushal over Operation Sindoor. Concerned, she confronted Akshay, who immediately dismissed the claims.
Twinkle wrote, “I came across several tweets and decided to call the man of the house to confront him. ‘I just read you’re fighting with Vicky Kaushal over who gets to make a film on Operation Sindoor,’ I said. He just sighed and replied, ‘It’s fake news.’”
Operation Sindoor was announced on May 10 by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films in collaboration with The Content Engineer. The movie is reportedly inspired by India’s military response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack that occurred on April 22. The film aims to portray the nation’s resilience and valor in the wake of tragedy.
Public Backlash Over Timing and Sensitivity
The timing of the announcement — amid rising geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan — led to widespread criticism. Many felt that the release of such a politically charged film was poorly timed and could provoke unwanted controversy.
In response to the backlash, director Uttam Maheshwari issued a public apology. He stated that while the film was made with noble intentions, he acknowledges that the timing may have been inappropriate. “I never meant to offend or hurt anyone’s feelings. I regret if it caused any discomfort,” he said.
Following the director’s apology, producers Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani took to Instagram to publicly announce that they are not involved with Operation Sindoor. Their statement aimed to clarify misinformation and distance their names from the controversy surrounding the project.
